There are plenty of bands who make a good racket, but Dublin's erratic Girl Band truly are rare birds among their peers.
The four piece noise-rock band made up of Dara Kiely, Alan Duggan, Daniel Fox and Adam Faulkner formed in late 2011 with influences ranging from bands such as Bad Brains, James Chance and the Contortions, Neu and The Chemical Brothers. With propulsive, jagged industrial inflections, masterful suspense-building dynamics and frontman Dara Kiely's unhinged howl, Girl Band’s madness swings from the disturbing to the downright absurd. The group’s breakthrough LP Holding Hands With Jamie (Rough Trade/SubPop) permeates a sinister aura through and through, to a point where things can go haywire at the slightest prick. Their live show is known for being intense, energetic and above all things loud.
